If you’re a liberal-leaning Mormon and politics come up, you love bringing up Harry Reid. Here we have a Mormon who is not only a Democrat, but he currently holds one of the highest positions in Congress—Senate Majority Leader.
You see!? We’re not all uber-conservative Republicans; some of us are somewhat-less-conservative Democrats!
For those of you who don’t know what a Senate Majority Leader is, it means all the other Democrats have to suck Reid’s dick—at least, when they’re not sucking the President’s dick. It’s just the hierarchy of politics*.
But this is exactly the problem Reid is faced with. With obvious ties to both the LDS Church and the President of the United States, whose dick does he suck who does he side with on those issues where Democrats and the LDS Church don’t always agree.
Well, Reid has picked sides, and it doesn’t look good for you love-to-bring-him-up-as-an-example Mormons.
After President Obama’s recent announcement that he supports gay marriage, Harry Reid announced he also supports gay marriage.
What a coincidence!
I guess it’s good that a high-ranking Mormon has stated his position in favor of gay marriage, but I can’t help but be left with a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth** knowing this has more to do with politics than any sort of personal conviction.
If he’s not being a yes man for the LDS Church, he’s being a yes man for the Democrats.
What a great example to us all.
*It’s not like “Senate Majority Leader” is an elected title. It’s just party politics and has only been around since 1920.
