Charity of the Week: Utah Food Bank

You know how the Tea Party is trying to get rid of government? We’re not saying this is a clever ploy to kill off all homeless people, but we’re not saying this isn’t a clever ploy to kill off all homeless people either.

That being said, the Utah Food Bank is a great institution whose mission is:

Utah Food Bank meets the immediate basic needs of people in our community who don’t know where else to turn.

While the Utah Food Bank does rely heavily on donations, they do get some government funding. But remember, if some people had their druthers there would be no more government funding for anything; so unless you’re going to vote against these ideals in the upcoming election, you’re going to need to donate to the Utah Food Bank if you want to have a clear conscious.

And remember: the Utah Food Bank doesn’t just help homeless people; there are plenty of low-income, unemployed, or underemployed families (FAMILIES! i.e. they have children who are going hungry) who need services like the food bank just to get by.

The good news is you don’t have to donate money; you can volunteer your time or donate food items. So if you’re like us and spent all your money on booze, once you sober up you can head spend a 90-minute shift at the food bank making sure people don’t die of hunger.
